Who utilises vape shops and what do they do?

 

Background

'Electronic cigarettes (also known as "e-cigarettes") and other related goods are frequently purchased from vape shops. It is uncertain how vape shops sell their products, how Vape Shop Bush Fair customers use tobacco and e-cigarettes generally, and how much information or support they offer smokers trying to quit utilising tobacco products.

 

Results

Eighty-four per cent of customers currently use e-cigarettes. 78% of active vapers had quit smoking, and 19% were dual users. Over half of vapers said they now use e-liquid with less nicotine than when they first started using e-cigarettes. The shops offered a wide choice of goods at different price points. Less than half of employees said they offered smoking cessation counselling, but 76% said they felt confident giving it to clients who requested it. A little under half of consumers and store employees agreed that offering official in-store smoking cessation counselling was suitable.

 

Conclusions

Customers who have given up smoking make up the majority of Vapes Bush Fair. Shop employees are crucial in informing clients about products and may provide suggestions for quitting smoking. The prospects for smoking cessation programmes in vape shops, especially the degree to which these would appeal to non-vapers, need further study. It is crucial to comprehend the products that vape shop employees sell, their marketing strategies, and the extent to which they inform or encourage smokers to give up all tobacco use because they may play a significant role in promoting smoking cessation through their interactions with customers.
